Dig and it's worth it.

Camera works great! Used on Jeep Compass Sport 2012. A disadvantage of this is that the camera mounts 6" to 8" off center. Just be aware that things will shift quite slightly. It's a fairly wide viewing angle and the horizon appears near the top of the screen where it should be. If you decide to add a camera to your compass, the first thing to know is that it's not a quick job. This took much longer than I expected. First you need to take the top gate panel and I used a metal panel puller to pull out the hard to reach pullers with the metal retaining clips attached. Some just broke, and it's going to take some effort to get this thing off. I drilled a bit to add to the existing rectangular hole where the license plate light tab would go in to make room for the RCA cable. There was a plastic sealed hole on the tailgate that I punched out to route the cables to the left and into the rubber grommet. I couldn't get the RCA through the grommet in the top left corner of the tailgate, so I routed it through the same holes next to it. Don't let play when the gate is up or it will retract when the gate is closed. I also routed the positive cable for the booster from the driver's side battery to the rear. As for the camera, I routed it on the passenger side of the floor padding and taped the remote control cable and the amp's RCA cable together. Because I ran the camera cable down the wrong side of the car I had to add 2 RCA extension cables using the female to female adapters I already had. It has a very long cord, but you'll have to run it on the driver's side and you'll have enough. I used taps to power the reverse lights. I also had to add a cable to power the camera to make it longer. Connect the red braid to the red on the power supply, then to the orange/white and black/black wires on the reversing lamp. There are two black wires coming out, but one is ground going to the other bulb. Both will work.
