Review on Lion Brand Bulk Buy Pittsburgh by Carrie Spencer

Positive first: Lion Brand Hometown Yarn offers beautiful colors, is soft and easy to work with. However, it is impossible to knit something to wear from this yarn. I have a lot of experience in crochet, tunisian crochet and weaving, and am also new to knitting. Bought this yarn (yellow and black) to make Pittsburgh Steelers hats for my nieces and nephews. First I tried to make a simple double crochet ribbed hat, then a ribbed loom hat, then a flat back loom hat. ALL THREE came out so thick and stiff I don't know anyone wearing a hat like that. I don't care how cold it is in Maine (like my two nieces) or the Boston area (where a niece and two nephews live), you can't make anything wearable out of this yarn. Very disappointed, waste of money, and Christmas gifts will definitely be late this year (having found a bunch of flowers I need). :(
