Review on ✨ Enhance Your Braking Power with Kool Stop Dura 2 Brake Insert by Todd Wigfall

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Stop for a dime in the rain, sleet or snow:

These brake pads were installed on a 2013 Cannondale CAAD8 that was fitted with standard Cannondale C4 calipers. They replaced the original pads, which always had mediocre stopping power at best. Having used Kool Stop Salmon Pads for 4 months now I can say they outperform standard pods day and night. They are very sticky and can easily lock up the rear wheel by clinging to clean rims. They give the brakes a very sticky and almost spongy feel that other reviewers have complained about. However, I have found that this allows for better modulation of braking intensity, especially in the wet. Speaking of wet conditions, these pads really stand out from traditional black composite pads. They grip well on wet rims and only produce a small amount of gray aluminum/brake material on the rim that seems to accumulate in wet/icy conditions. The pads appear to wear out faster than traditional pads, but they are molded about 40-50 percent thicker to compensate for this factor. As a result, you may have to open the calipers a little more to accommodate these pads. Overall, the excellent wet and dry performance of these pads makes them my top choice for all my future aluminum rims.
