Review on Enhance Performance and Life of Soapstone Woodstoves with StoneGard Stove Top Thermometer (3-26) by Josue Wallsmith

Large Soapstone Oven Thermometer

PERFORMANCE: Purchased, placed directly over the center tile of my Hearthstone homestead, and it reads very accurately. I've tried uploading a photo (Amazon won't let me) to compare my wireless thermometer to this one and it's always between 10 and 20 degrees (which at 500 degrees says a lot!). 4%. In fact, the surface of the stone varies greatly, so that a small deviation can be explained precisely by this. There's also no noticeable lag in temperature readings. AESTHETICS: Oh my gosh, I don't understand why so many oven/tube thermometers are glowing orange for the tops! This might make sense if the dial were digital and could change color depending on the temperature, but they're analog so you always have to look at the color spectrum (down to that ugly bright orange). Not this guy! Finally, they made a thermometer to match the beautiful, sophisticated, and classic look of the oven, which I probably spent too much money on. Many thanks to StoneGuard for making a thermometer that works well and looks good at the same time. I have nothing bad to say other than the price. It seems like a lot of money for something made out of stamped steel, but in hindsight they need to make sure it's precision made in the USA. I'm all for supporting locally produced goods and workers, so I'm happy to pay $18.

Cons
