Used as a water cup for dinner

As a child, my mother used her universal water cup for Thanksgiving and other holiday meals. You meet all the requirements; durable, short and will never be confused or mistaken for a real wine glass. The water glass is in the upper right corner of the table setting; directly north of the innermost knife (salad), but not "above" the plate. The wine glass is usually placed to the right of the water glass, above the spoon.
