Review on πŸ”© PSI Woodworking L5818 Lathe Headstock Spindle Adapter 5/8-inch – Shopsmith Compatible – Converts to 1-inch x 8tpi by Curtis Sherman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Rough but functional

The adapter is quite rough, with very rough flat surfaces on the outside and poor carving on the inside. However, this is true enough, or at least true enough for wood turning. I use it to adapt my new lathe's 1-1/4x8 spindle to my Nova G3 chuck, which has 1"x8 holes and threads and is fine for the job. The only problematic omission is the lack of one Threaded hole for a set screw to attach to the spindle Without this it's dangerous to run the lathe backwards and it can even be dangerous to slow it down too fast At $20 it's pretty cheap but Teknatool/ Nova sells a similar adapter for $29, and I think it's worth the extra $9 to get a better adapter.
