All I can say is that as much as you love this CB (the concept and looks are amazing) DO NOT BUY IT! After installing the CB, I could hear other people but could not transmit. He made piercing noises, beeps, and other static noises. As soon as I removed the extension cord, the device worked. (Also note I had to leave my squelch on level 6) Contacted Uniden and asked for a replacement extension. But while I'm waiting for the extension cord (they said it would be 10 days), my device randomly turns off, the screen goes blank, and a whole list of other issues. So I thought that I must have just received a defective unit - and replaced it completely. A replacement device arrives 2 days later. Install it and he has the same problems. Read the reviews and see if this is a common problem that isn't fixed. I decided to go ahead and order a Cobra. Still haven't received the new extension they were supposed to send.
