Great paddle. I have ordered 4 of these in the last year and had them painted for friends. Pine wood, easy to stain. It's a bit softer than I'd like as far as the woodwork goes, but it makes the finishing touches a little easier. I drill holes for air and round the edges with a router, sand and apply stain + a few coats of clear polymer. I can burn words onto wood in the design if needed. The end result is quite a stunning work of art that is also very functional as a paddle. Pine also offers a very easy swing, especially with air holes, so it's definitely more of a bite than an impact.
