I used it for outdoor use with a cellular modem that is in a metal outdoor cabinet next to a road. They work pretty well. I wasn't too optimistic because they were smaller than the flat antennas that came with the modem. However, I lost the flat panel antennas that came with the modem and needed a replacement. I decided to try them out and so far they are working great. Time will tell how reliable they are, but I've bookmarked this article for now as I will inevitably need additional antennas in the future and they work well for my application.
