I loved the concept and used these skewers for about 2 years before eventually breaking or losing enough to justify buying a new set. I will NOT buy them again and here is why: 1) The two skewer teeth are not parallel. As such, they work great when you put an item on each side, but you can't put an item (like a hot dog or marshmallow) too far on both prongs at once. If you try, the holes will lengthen as the distance between the teeth gets smaller the more you push them in. 2) The teeth themselves are quite thick. This gives them a solid feel BUT it also means they make fairly wide holes. More than one hot dog was accidentally split in half due to weakening of that large hole. 3) I don't know if it's because the metal is so thick or if it's some kind of metal, but the skewers get hot and hold the heat for a long time. With marshmallows, this means the prongs melt through the holes, so you can't really control the mallow by twisting it, and sometimes the skewer actually melts through the mallow. 4) Speaking of hot, after about a year of use, the tension on the skewers eased when pulled, so if you tried to stick something on the end, it would just slide down instead of piercing the item you were trying to stick on. This made a difference because as mentioned the ends get very hot making it difficult to re-extend without burning yourself.
