For the money I should probably give them 4 stars. They have very clear glass, a wide sweet spot and a very nice design. They're a HUGE improvement over Vanguard's smaller attempt, ED (no '2'). But I can only rate them on how well they work with my eyes, and there's still too much chromatic aberration for my liking. rating here. If you are interested in a more detailed description of chromatic aberration, read this overview. The new and improved ED II controls CA much better, with yellow and magenta being restricted to the outer parts of the lens. However, it is bright enough. It does not disturb the central view, but is unmistakably present and perceptible. All assuming you are sensitive to CA, of course. If you're not sensitive to CA, this is probably a good choice.
