I had a previous generation Acer CB271H Abmidr monitor but due to solvent damage I replaced it with a newer version. Out of the box I was really disappointed with the huge difference in picture quality and the extremely noticeable screen door effect this monitor had. However, by changing a few settings I was able to correct the color and eliminate the screen door effect: How to eliminate the screen door effect: On your computer, change the screen refresh rate from the default 75Hz to 60Hz and it should get rid of the screen. door effect. I am assuming this monitor was built for native 60Hz but some engineering tweaks to boost it to 75Hz caused some pixel update issues creating a screen door effect. The effect is most noticeable on light blue colors (R:100, G:100, B:255) where it created vertical (but not horizontal) "lines" of screen door, leading me to believe it was caused by pixel refresh was causing problems. I used HDMI so remains to be seen if the screen door effect occurs at 75Hz with DP. In addition to the above, here are the OSD settings I used: OffGamma: 2.2Color Temp.: NormalOver Drive, VRB, Refresh Rate Num: OffFree Sync: OnBlack Boost really just makes blacks less dark so who thought that would be a good idea to develop it? presents artifacts. Overall, after fixing the miscalibration, this monitor is a good choice for gaming, work, and some graphics and video editing. For the price ($150) I think this is a good deal.
