Review on ACDelco D1583G Original Equipment Switch by Louis Alford

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Exact replacement for an OEM part.

I know for a fact that these GM brake switches tend to wear out and the contacts will burn out after about 140,000. Then I always change them. The switch is fairly easy to remove once you understand how the spring detent works. But it's particularly hard to replace given the power pedals make it incredibly cramped. You will eventually get it. Both of my index fingers became experts at replacing the metal spring clip. Get ready to stand on your head. It may be easier to remove the adjustable pedals for better access. I've never tried this, but it might be worth checking out as the replacement can be painful. Also remember to lubricate the metal parts of the lever with silicone grease before installing the new switch.
