Review on ๐Ÿ’ฆ Grundfos SCALA2 98562818 3-45 AVCBDF 1x115V 60Hz Auto Water Pressure Boost Pump by Adam Sterlinski แ Œ

Product is disappointing, not what it promises.

This is my first NS, all the previous ones were ordinary pumps with a flow sensor, even without HA. I use it to increase the pressure in the city, i. E. minimum pressure (2-3 bar) and the availability of water is guaranteed. Immediately alarmed two points. First: the product periodically turns off for 3 seconds (the first time after 20-25 seconds after the start and then every few minutes), then it turns on again as if nothing had happened, while the indicators show the normal operation mode. The second point - this product determines the dry run only by indirect signs and with a probability of 50/50 is incorrect. I checked: I closed the water supply valve in front of the product - he doesnโ€™t care. After closing the valve, I also tried to unscrew the cap from the mud filter immediately after the valve (that is, air should already be sucked in) - zero attention. Unless regular short-term shutdowns of the motor become more frequent. After about 3-5 minutes, the product realizes that something is wrong, and it stops with a "dry run" error. But even when there is water in the water supply, not everything is so simple. If the water consumption is maximum, every 10-20 minutes the HC seems to have no water, and a shutdown occurs with a "dry run" error, despite the fact that water continues to flow from the water supply! Both moments appear only when the water consumption is such that the product cannot provide the required pressure in the system. Another thing is when, for example, the only consumer is a shower, or, say, I drained in a push and the tank is filled - then the product is "enough" - the pressure in the system is> 4 bar, there are no regular short-term shutdowns, there is no dry run. But the 3rd moment appears: in order to โ€œpress upโ€, for example, from 4.5 bar to 5.5, the product starts at minimum speed and can work like this for several minutes, and then, apparently, a timeout is already triggered. Well, who "tweets" at minimum speed, when the pressure in the system is already not small? In order to "add pressure" from 4.5 to 5.5, it is necessary to turn on the corresponding revolutions, and not vibrate with electricity consumption and 0 exhaust. It's kind of a shame.

Pros
  • 1) Relatively quiet, although at full speed the noise is still noticeable. 2) Cool protection, you don't have to worry that a decorative small animal will find a loophole or accidentally stick its tail into any hole. 3) The pressure is what you need. 4) Compact and lightweight! 5) All iron and plastic, both inside and outside, are perfectly fitted to each other, everything is in its place, there is almost nothing to "improve" except .
Cons
  • 1) Stupid, very stupid firmware running the whole thing. Thanks to this, all the qualities and advantages that distinguish this product from others are reduced to nothing, become ordinary or even worse than those of competitors. 2) The alleged reason for the flaw 1 (see comments): the comrades spent a lot of time and money on the development of hardware, and then 1 day (literally!) To write the microprogram. Meaning - the NS has a Renesas RL78 series control microcontroller, and so Renesas has its own feature for its microcontrollers - a convenient visual tool for "programming", Applilet is called - you drag the blocks, connect them, and voila - the "program" is ready. Here in Grundfos, some smart guy decided to save money - he put a student in or even sat down himself, not having special skills and understanding in this matter, he took as a basis some appnote from the same Renesas, without thinking twice, slightly edited it. Everything is the result. And THIS works in your NS, exactly THIS is the "feature" of this NS, when it does not work as it should with a well or city water supply, in a word, it works through one place . 3) More than half a year of use - the flight is normal (almost resigned to stupidity). Then they switched it to the "Stop" mode for several days, then back to normal mode and . There was a loud extraneous sound, like the rattling of a diesel engine, and it began to leak a little from the hole from the bottom in the middle, although it did not become worse functionally. Dismantled, pulled out a rosette with a shaft - inside everything is wet and covered with a touch of rust, incl. and bearings. I took out the lubricant as indicated in the Service instructions, washed it, lubricated it, dried it, all the rubber bands were like new. The result - it leaks and rumbles all the same, I no longer need such feces. I tried to carefully add rubber bands to the stuffing box, the leak decreased, but it still rumbles. It was not possible to pull the windings out of the case, i. E. Rinse and dry them too. 4) There are no "heaps" of sensors. One combined - it seems, temperature (water) and pressure switch.
