It works well but you can see why it's cheaper than other brands

So it works as advertised but with some downsides compared to other brands I use. I have a K&N cold air intake on my 2000 GMC Sierra V6 and bought this for a 2000 Blazer Zr2 V6 (it came with a Specter brand filter that simply attached to the end of the intake hose). The reason I'm putting it down is because I'm comparing it to installing the more expensive kit I use. - Need to drill holes in the truck to mount aftermarket gear. You may need to drill holes to install the heat shield. to ensure they can accommodate the screws provided. (Not worth deducting a star here, but still not very good IMO). Luckily I didn't have them either, but the air filter barely fit, should I try drilling through that tiny area underneath? Taking out the headlight assembly to drill through it? - The filter that came with this kit didn't feel like it was made for this kit (my model), it just seems very big. Fitting (and fitting) if it wasn't enough at the elbow you couldn't get it to go into the hole it sits in. If he was too hard on his elbow, he wouldn't fit in the hole either. Elbow to fit in then pull it back down and then push down to fit the hole in the small space of my truck. You must also try not to ensure that the filter reaches the bottom where it is installed. The filter sits on a cable of some sort and the cable connector rubs against the side. A smaller version of this filter can solve this problem, I don't need to buy another air filter for it to fit better. Minus 1 star. An aluminum bracket is glued to a plastic intake manifold that mounts on top of the carburetor. .I feel bad on two fronts. During installation you can't get an outlet on the 10mm screws that attach the part to the truck. Problems with the gap, the tube is glued to the bracket. Later on the road when I want to check the carburetor or clean the throttle valve. I have to remove the breather pipe to the PCV valve, loosen the hose clamps to the MAF sensor and loosen three 10mm bolts to get to the carburetor. Basically you have to remove the top of this kit to access the carburetor. The more expensive K&N kit on my other truck addresses this by adding a bushing and two zip ties to connect the bracket to the pipe. At the time I thought how cheap I was spending, but I'm getting it now after installing this kit. (minus 2 stars) This is a double whammy with the installation and maintenance of my car. Yes, it's a little cheaper than the overpriced K&N. Competitor but I understand why. It feels less thought out, with corners trimmed to make it cheaper and less serviceable in the future. I'll probably choose a different option if I put one of these systems in a car.
