Kasa has lost its way

I have many Kasa smart home devices and the combination of quality and ease of use has kept me using them over the years. Accessing all of their devices through their app was easy, and the seamless integration with Alexa made it easy to set up and use. Until I bought the last two items from them. These LED strips (bought 3 sets) and the outdoor dimmer (bought 2) are incredibly tedious to set up. Both required multiple reboots of the phone as it disabled my wifi on my phone during setup and can't find my network nor, if it does, connect to it. Of the 5 points, I have only successfully configured 1 point. Well, that's not true. I received one of these strip lights, but the controller was defective and the lights would not come on. Now I have an Eero network and in combination with Alexa they are usually added automatically after connecting. But not this one. Do not go. Repeated. I don't know what Kasa did to them, the app is broken or they switched providers but it's bullshit. Clean and simple. Avoid if you don't want to spend hours trying to get it to work.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Almost never
