Review on πŸ”’ 10-Pack SHIMANO Zinc Shift Cable (1.2x2100mm) - Durable and Reliable Shifter Cables by David Lamfers

Decent quality at a great price

These are decent shifter cables. Not only am I delighted with the price, but also with the quality, even though it is a Chinese product. I used these on my latest build: Rocky Mountain Hammer hardtail with Shimano Deore XT 24 speed derailleurs. Approximately from 96-98 years. The bike wasn't as good as it looked. The original cables and housings were outdated and the shifting didn't feel like a Shimano XT. I replaced the wires and body which was all Shimano. After that, the components worked very well. If you want pleasing results, dab (just a dab, like the size of a thumb stud and your finger of course) with a waterproof, slippery/thin/safe grease/grease like Shimano. Apply cable lubricant or FinishLine Teflon Lubricant or Rock 'n Roll CableMagic Lubricant to the cable while it is still twisted. Then unwind and insert into the cable housing. This gives him some protection from water and some elemental damage. Buy some o-rings or use the case all the time. Also, preload the cable routed through the housing and attached to the switch's clamping screw, but only if the wires are visible or disconnected at the cable clamps. Over time, you won't have to worry too much about changing setups. too much of. This preload is achieved by simply pulling the cable (during installation) with a lot of force. This keeps your customizations for a long time. If the cable (always) slacks a little after preloading, tighten the barrel adjuster at the lever or switch to fine adjustment. Update: I ran out of them a while ago. I use them a lot in my small home renovation and business. These aren't the slickest cables out there, but they do the job well at a great price. They work great in combination with Shimano OT SP41 shift bodies and through mounting (no broken or split bodies mounted on the frame). They are more than long enough (2100mm) to be mounted on a very large frame with optimal body length. I was able to cut it reasonably with a good pair of Pedro wire cutters. This is ideal for small repairs and businesses. I would recommend without a doubt. Updated 04/13/15. Today I received a new set. I think the cable design has changed a bit. They used to love to bend and bow. Now they seem to be more durable and a bit smoother than the ones I bought a while ago. The dimensions remain the same. I also bought an OT SP41 outer shell painted in High Tech Gray. The combination is phenomenal for my Shimano 105 10 speed transmission, the result is smoother derailment and easier tension adjustment. UPDATE 7/8/15 I bought some Rock 'n Roll CableMagic a few days ago and tested it in Jagwire L3, LEX and Shimano OT-SP41 housings and these cables. This makes shifting smoother than manufacturers who store internal lubrication in their housing. I will review this product later.
