Perfect for Shimano Nexus hubs and more

This model number cable came up when I was looking for cables for Shimano Nexus hubs. Also, I was installing a hub on a Strech Electra cruise ship, so I needed long cables to make sure they were long enough. I came here to punish them as cheaply as possible and it worked out better than I hoped. The former Nexus 7-speed hub has come to life and performs like a champ. I've also used them on both the rear and front derailleurs and they work flawlessly. I am delighted with the product and theโ€ฆ

Fair price and does not wear out when cutting.

Good price for ten shifter cables and unlike most other lugs that are designed for brake cables, comes with lugs that are the correct size for the shifter cable. I used Tri-Flow to lubricate it so the cable moves freely and it makes a big difference in the ease of leverage. Now I bought Shimano Cable Grease to see if its special grease would make it even better. Compared to other stainless steel cables I've bought from Revain, they don't fray as easily when cut and I don't feel any differenceโ€ฆ

The cables work as advertised but will wear out as will my OEM cable

I have an 8 speed transmission that uses these cables. After about 2000 miles the cables break and shifting becomes erratic and as soon as that happens the cables break and fail. I have other bikes that use similar cables and over time the cables wear out and break. If you have multiple bikes like me then the kit is worth the price compared to buying individual cables. The bad news is that you have to store the cables and remember where you put them. Other reviews have said there are betterโ€ฆ

too early to say but looks very decent

The switch (shift cable) is usually stainless steel or zinc. As far as I know, this will be the first time I've used a zinc shifter cable. I have installed one of these cables on Shimano mountain bike derailleurs with no problem. A lot of people recommend replacing the derailleur cable and possibly the housing after a season or so of riding (especially in muddy conditions) and for the price I could just about do it. It's not clear from the description, but they do include an end cap with eachโ€ฆ

NO SHIMANO CABLES! ATTENTION TO THE BUYER!

I reordered them without reading any new reviews and had the same experience as Raoul D. These are NOT Shimano zinc cables! The first photo shows the silver Shimano cable from my previous order and the dark gray cables I just received - they appear to be made of different materials. The cable ends are also treated differently. I don't mind getting a proper box that should contain the cables (Photo 3) but I expect individual packaging and all parts for my 10 cables (previous order included aโ€ฆ

(MAY NOT BE) A BOX OF 10?

[UPDATE]: I received a prompt refund after emailing the seller (see below). I've upgraded the product rating to 4 stars based on cable quality and price; If you actually get 10 when you order, that's a good deal for a quality product. I am not giving 5 stars because of the packaging which looks used and because I cannot personally confirm that you will receive this product in the advertised quantity. I also plan to leave a review about the seller and tell the full story. [ORIGINAL REVIEW] Iโ€ฆ

Decent quality at a great price

These are decent shifter cables. Not only am I delighted with the price, but also with the quality, even though it is a Chinese product. I used these on my latest build: Rocky Mountain Hammer hardtail with Shimano Deore XT 24 speed derailleurs. Approximately from 96-98 years. The bike wasn't as good as it looked. The original cables and housings were outdated and the shifting didn't feel like a Shimano XT. I replaced the wires and body which was all Shimano. After that, the components workedโ€ฆ

Great value for money front derailleurs and parts

These are simple economy shifter cables from Shimano. They are made in China but are still a great product. especially at their much lower retail price. The only significant difference between these cables and Shimano's mid-range stainless steel version is their rust resistance. In a pack of ten, however, they cost about a quarter of the price of individual stainless steel shift cables from the same manufacturer. and quite adequate if not ideal for many bikes. Stocking spare parts is also easy.
