Cherries are hard to carve and I was looking for a cherry crutch so I can work with fresh cherries better than canned cherries. I've tried it and so far it has worked well. The concept is simple. Essentially, the plunger pushes the pit through the pulp, keeping the cherry still, minimizing waste and reducing mess. It's not zero waste or zero mess, but it's a lot less than trying to do this work by hand. The stoner has a simple design, not much different from the handle that reinforces the grip. The cherry is placed in the rubber-lined whole and when the device is squeezed, the plunger punches through the cherry and pushes the pit through the opposite side. My only complaint is that this device is a bit flimsy and the plunger can move. Out of the box, the plunger was not centered and was very close to one side of the hole. It is easy to adjust, but can also easily slip off again. That makes me question its durability. It's a good tool and perfect for the task it was designed for. I wish it was made a little stronger, but it works well and doesn't cost much.
