The accuracy is questionable.

Not sure about accuracy. I bought this to test the surface temperature of a pizza stone. The temperature of the stone and the temperature of the dome of your grill/oven can vary, so it is recommended that you test it with one of these. So I made a glass of ice water in my Yeti mug. After a few minutes sitting it showed 32.9F. Then I check again a few minutes later and it's sporadic, 37.2F, 34.7F. I checked it from 12 inches away, which is a Spot should measure about 1 inch in diameter according to the instructions (make sure the surface is at least twice the corresponding spot diameter. So a 4 inch cup opening at 12 inches should suffice. Eventually reached her a couple of times in a row 33.9. Fine, I can live with that on the low side. Then I boiled the water to check the 212 degree benchmark. Same. I moved it closer, I moved it further. I tested it with continuous boiling and it was 226 and different each time. on the stovetop until the water almost boils. the same. never the same twice. sometimes it can vary by 15-20 degrees. I just want them to include some steps or some ways to be accurate or Calibri ture and ensure known temperature, such as ice water or boiling water. Some will say it's just a few degrees off. 15-20 is more than a few, especially since it's all about measuring the temperature as accurately as possible. If we need to guess the temperature, I can do that without this device. If your pizza is burning, it's too hot.
