Total Game Changer: My dog LOVES it

*** Short and Sweet *** My dog can and will destroy every substance known to man. except maybe this box. I'm only saying "maybe" because for the first time in her life she had no desire to destroy him, and in fact it seems he could resist her violence if she tried! Also, as an added mega bonus, she really likes the crate. PROS: - Very durable/safe and well made - I have a feeling it will last a lifetime (guy) - Looks actually inviting in your home - Perfect for a standard pet bed - Spacious and comfy - Dog LOVES it - Wheels and tray very comfortable CONS: - $$$$$ - Very, very heavy - Snaps are a weak point (although the included carabiners help mitigate this) - Cannot attach standard bowls/water bottles *** Full Story ** *I'm sorry I bought this crate to replace the standard (but quite thick/durable) wire hutch I've had for my anxious, sprawling dog for the past 10 years. However, she has been VERY restless since we moved in and recently had to destroy her old box in a fit of insanity. Fence for privacy outside (she chewed metal - yes I said metal - fence poles until they bent and she escaped), tied them together inside and out (she ate the cord then chewed through the door), a muzzle, with it she could' she chewed through things (she ripped off her snout), just let them walk in a whole cozy room with her (she literally blew off an entire wall), plus SO many calming items (Thundershirt, sprays, treats, pheromone -Diffusers, chew toys, CBD oil and the vet even prescribed her Xanax). absolutely nothing helped. We began to believe that if we were ever asleep or left home during a mildly disturbing event (thunderstorm, fireworks, or even neighbors using power tools), she would literally destroy our entire house and run away. It was a nightmare. I bought this cage because we needed to try something different to keep him in check. I was furious that she destroyed the last box along with half my house, and furious that I had to spend so much money on a new one that I was sure she would destroy as confidently as anything else. She HATES being ignored, even for a single second, and hates being locked away. So imagine my surprise when my dog volunteers to walk over to this cage and sleep happily (and QUIETLY) in it even during a thunderstorm! She made no attempt to destroy him or escape him, and he actually seems tough enough that I think he might even compete with my destructomatic dog for her money. The color convinced me! To our surprise, we also found that she was getting scared of live music at her age. So when we wanted to put her in her cage, we would play a chord on the ukulele or play a soothing sound on our steel drum and she would run to him.. She may not really appreciate our musical acumen, but we're glad that she finds the crate safe enough to take shelter there! Assembly was fairly easy (even I, a petite woman, had to do it myself) but the box is VERY heavy. and I highly recommend getting someone to help you as the sides rattle loudly when you try to put them back on. Everything fits together perfectly and fits perfectly. I didn't want to move it much due to the weight, so the wheels were a welcome surprise. I agree with others that the latches are the weak point of this cage, but then again, even my pup, who is very strong and completely obsessed with destroying anything within reach, didn't even make an attempt to get out. Just in case, I attach the included carabiners when the forecast calls for a storm and I feel safe knowing it's secured there. from big bucks to a fancy box. It was worth it. The cost of a crate is likely to be much less than replacing a few doors, windows, and walls. My dog is much, much happier overall, which makes us happier too. Plus it looks pretty decent in my house and has earned us a few compliments! The only thing I would really change would be to include bowls/water bottles in the drawer to match this drawer as the metal bars are too thick for our standard bowl holders and offer the metal in more colors.
