I would happily give it 3.5 stars as it does what it says it filters the air with higher efficiency. HOWEVER, this efficiency comes at a cost, at the expense of your electric bill and the health of your HVAC fan motor. Almost all domestic HVAC systems are not built/balanced to handle such thick media. Of course they will, but they will fight. Multiple variants of fans that increase performance to accommodate the CFM for which the system is designed increase performance, increase system power consumption, and risk motor damage (overheating/overloading). Single speed fans simply reduce the CFM of the system and provide insufficient heating and cooling, resulting in longer HVAC (space heating or cooling) runtime, resulting in higher electrical equipment costs and a higher chance of an engine fire. The flow is measured in the laboratory on a brand-new filter. Now you need to understand that the filter clogs as soon as it enters the real environment. The higher the filtration efficiency, the higher the filter clogging rate and the reduction in airflow (which exacerbates the effects described above). Get a dedicated whole house HEPA add-on to the HVAC system (it's a custom fan with filter media) or buy a HOLMES 5" to 1" conversion filter that has a 5" Filter in a 1" space, this provides high filtration and high CFM (because it's now 5" thick media instead of the easily pocketable 1" media).
