Review on KEKOY 6 Variable Speed 13000RPM Random Orbit Sander W/ Vacuum Hose & 18Pcs Sandpapers - High Performance Dust Collection System For Woodworking! by Marcus Zimmerly

extremely aggressive random orbit sander

My first impression of this sander was that it appeared, outwardly, to be a reasonably high-quality tool: neat fit and finish, made of quality materials: tool-appropriate plastic with comfortable rubber over-molding; change the colors and slap on a fancy brand name and no one would be the wiser. However, it operates a bit more aggressively than other random orbit sanders I've used in the past. Those sanders worked on a clutch that when the tool is set on a surface and light pressured is applied, that's when the clutch really engages and the sanding plate spins; when the tool isn't on a work surface, the rotation is pretty minimal. This sander, however, has a strongly pre-engaged clutch (if it even has one) and spins pretty much at full-throttle from start. The instructions specifically say to start and stop the sander on the work piece – I suspect to help minimize kicking and gouging the surface you're working on (from setting it down even slightly off-perpendicular to the surface). But even starting on the work piece still produces a bit of kicking at the higher speeds, particularly if you do not or are not able to have a really firm grip on the tool.Otherwise, it's an effective random orbit sander. It's aggressiveness may even be an asset for some use-cases. But I think too often you're going to end up doing a little extra sanding to remove extra scratches left behind by the jolting startup. I don't think in that regard, particularly for the price, that the tool is entirely irredeemable, it's just not ideal.
