Review on AEM 21 488B Blue Intake System by David May

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Difficult to install but worth it!

First mod project with my boy and his first car! It was a bit difficult, but it was worth it! I bought it from Revain for only $140. Not sure why it was so cheap but it was new and fit my son's 2008 Mazda 3 hatchback. A few notes: 1) Read the instructions first! However, the instructions are a bit lacking, so here are some pointers. You need free access to the chassis (lift the front of the car) and turn the wheels all the way to the right. Do all this before disconnecting the negative terminal; 2) After the top of the OE intake system is removed, CAREFULLY remove the portion of the outer pigtail housing that connects to the airflow sensor. You need extra length; 3) The bolts securing the lower portion of the OE intake system require loosening part of the inner wheel well and loosening a small portion of the bumper (a bolt that attaches the bumper to the left fender). The three bolts holding the bottom of the OE intake system were extremely difficult. Pushing back the bumper and fender flares helps a lot. I have cuts, scrapes and bruises on the forearms of my hands and can't find the bottom of the nail. but it was worth it. Gas! The growl is amazing! No check engine light (for now I'll let you know if there is one). Can't wait to get the damper. Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the missing nail, bruises and scratches
