I have been cooking with cast iron cookware every day for over (50) years, but I also wanted some high carbon stamped steel Schillets to complete my collection. I remember my mom always using it to make my dad breakfast, so I guess I bought it out of nostalgia and not a particular need to have it. The pan is as heavy as my cast iron skillet of the same size and cooks pretty much the same. I'll probably add an 8" pan and a 12" pan to my collection just to have a complete camping kit. The soft, heat resistant coating on the handle is a huge bonus with this pan as the handle gets very hot, just like a cast iron pan.
