I have been cooking with cast iron cookware every day for over (50) years, but I also wanted some high carbon stamped steel Schillets to complete my collection. I remember my mom always using it to make my dad breakfast, so I guess I bought it out of nostalgia and not a particular need to have it. The pan is as heavy as my cast iron skillet of the same size and cooks pretty much the same. I'll probably add an 8" pan and a 12" pan to my collection just to have a complete camping kit. The Lumberjack's Frying Pan! 12 inch pans are the same depth.

I was looking for a good woodcutter pan and came across this one. The only difference between this pan and the Carbon Steel Lodge CRS12 Skillet, Pre-Seated, 12-Inch Skillet is the handle attachment. They are the same size INCLUDING DEPTH. I ordered both and they are next to each other. I also have a cast iron Lodge pan that is about 20 years old. old and i love it. As with cast iron, your success and satisfaction with this skillet has a lot to do with how you season and use it over time. Iโ€ฆ

The frying pan came, irrevocably, "brewed". Since I use a lot of cast iron and did a little research, I seasoned it a few times before first use. It's been used 4 times since we got it, we use some form of fat before each use, and it's seasoned after cleaning - and that happens every time it's used (seeโ€ฆ

Very Disappointed - Frying Pans

I cook a lot and am an experienced cast iron user both for stovetop and baking. I wanted a smaller and lighter pan for everyday use, so I ordered a carbon steel 10 inch pan. After a few tries it's TERRIBLE. I followed Lodge's instructions exactly the first time I used it, everything was sticky and difficult to clean. with refined canola oil, like I do with several cast iron skillets - everything still sticks to the carbon steel skillet, although their finish is very similar to one of my newโ€ฆ
