Replacement for the previous brand model. The latter just worked on the second day after unplugging and plugging it back in, about 1.2 years later. Get the 3 or 4 year insurance offered with purchase. They refunded my entire purchase so I could purchase this device. We use a Starbucks strong blend for 3 cups of American coffee (6 cups of water) and 4 cups of ground coffee beans. I removed the strainer and used 4" coffee filters. Easier cleanup. The included filter isn't fine enough to stop the finest setting. We got fine grounds in our last cup of coffee. Yes, it's noisy when you're grinding present. We set a timer and the ground coffee is our alarm clock. No complaints, just a note that it might startle a person who is easily scared. The coffee maker fits perfectly on the counter. I found it cramped, but it fits good The only thing I wish the clock was 12pm (shows am/pm) instead of 12pm.
