Scans barcodes others can't!

I bought this wireless barcode scanner for work because we only have wired scanners and we think the wired function is too inconvenient when scanning large or heavy items, to lift them onto counters. I work in a sporting goods store, so there are often things like bikes that are difficult to scan with a wired scanner. Setting up the scanner is very simple and convenient: connect the base to the cash register computer and then scan the underlying QR code with the scanner and a wireless connection will be established. Unlike the scanners we typically use here, it doesn't use a flat horizontal line as the scanning area, which means you don't have to rely on the barcode being perfectly horizontal, and can also scan from obscure angles like I'm tilted (pun intended ). Battery life is great and we've never had an issue with the scanner dying and range has never been an issue either. However, I gave this scanner 4 stars instead of 5 because it doesn't pair very well unless you've used it for a few hours. I haven't figured out exactly how long the timeout is, but it looks like it will turn itself off if you don't pull the trigger for about 2-3 hours, even while sitting on the cradle. This is annoying because while pairing itself is pretty easy, it takes around 30-45 seconds to fully pair and be ready to rescan. Thankfully we don't have a permanently mounted stand anywhere, but if we did it would be even more inconvenient to have to scan that pairing QR code every time you leave it for a while. I think they should reconsider the power off feature to save battery when the scanner is in a cradle as the cradle can still actively charge it. However, O would recommend this scanner as it will scan just about any barcode you throw at it without hesitation, providing good audible and tactile feedback with every scan.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Don't really like it's ok
