Review on Acer Frameless Office Monitor R240HY Bidx, 1920X1080P, 60Hz, Blue Light Filter, Tilt Adjustment, HDMI by Jay Kidd

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I knew it didn't need particularly player-centric features like GSYNC or 144Hz refresh times.

I bought two of these for my wife for light gaming and entertainment to replace my old dying LCD and small TV. I knew it didn't need particularly gamer-focused features like GSYNC or 144Hz refresh times, so this seemed to fit the bill. I have to say I'm happy with what I got considering how little I paid. The zero bezel design is really good if you're using multiple monitors, although it was difficult to align the bezels correctly since the stand is so awful. It's a cheap, non-VESA insert that can be tilted or off-center very easily, and since the frame doesn't rotate, it's difficult to adjust the bezels without putting terrible force on the frame's linkage mechanism. It is very bad. stand. Nothing mitigates this fact. Otherwise everything was fine. Neither screen had a backlight. IPS viewing angles and color reproduction are really great compared to some terrible TN products and TVs. The plates themselves are very thin, without a frame there is absolutely no space on the table. The default settings seemed pretty good and didn't require much calibration. The brightness is satisfactory. The menu navigation is satisfactory. I wish it had DisplayPort connectors, but for now a DVI connector and an HDMI connector (at least on the NVidia 970) will suffice since I'm only running at 60Hz. Because the panel is so thin, the connecting wires stick out on the back instead of being aligned vertically at the bottom, giving the build a bit of a messy look, but it's not a huge issue. Some people have complained about ghosting, but I've had no problems with the default Overdrive=On. a few more bells and whistles, but if you're looking for a cheap two or three monitor setup, I think this is a great option.

Pros
  • computers and accessories
Cons
