I have used them as roof vent (sewer) covers. Debris got in and clogged the vent line (needs to be removed) - I think the debris contained both natural and some squirrel donations! This is to ensure my vents stay clean (while still letting rain through) but no pine needles and acorns. I simply slotted in my iron tubing (so the iron and plastic match), or if the tubing was too large to be 2" in diameter, I glued it to the tubing. Much cheaper than those made for this purpose and look great and easy to remove/replace if needed.
