Clothing is always so different because people and bodies are always so different - sometimes you hit the jackpot and fit perfectly; sometimes not. Before receiving these pants, I tried to do my due diligence and measure my waist. I ignored the measurements and ordered a size smaller. As I waited for these pants to arrive in the mail, I kept hoping that my rejection would work and that I could wear them. Turns out my rejection was more than correct - actually I should have gone further by going down a size (I measured my waist across my clothes so that was most likely why I got the wrong size have chosen). Although I can still wear these pants they are still large and loose and long for my smaller size. (However, the length does not matter. The pants can be folded down and there are drawstrings on both legs). Overall I wouldn't say they look too bad; However, I would probably only wear them where comfort is more important than style. Some additional details of the pants are as follows: There are three zipped pockets, all on the front. The one under the handbag is big enough for a cellphone. They are made of thin material, fit freely and are very comfortable. There are belt slots so I can wear them on a hike without worrying about my pants falling off. I can imagine the crotch area would be a little tighter if I was the right size; but the material is stretchy, so it might not bother everyone. Overall, I'll probably wear these pants on hikes, morning walks, or lounging around the house. I love that they have UPF 40.
