First off let me say these switches deserve 5 stars. They are well built and will safely handle any load up to their rating. As for waterproofing, it's not waterproof, but it's easy to make. The rubber boot that fits over the derailleur makes them waterproof from the outside, but if you use them on a quad or side-by-side they get water from behind. My husband sealed them with heat shrink tubing. It seems that these types of skills have largely been lost today. We bought 5 switches for less than we could pay for one. After my husband connected the connectors to the switch, he placed heat shrink tubing on the connectors and sealed them. Then he took 1 inch diameter heat shrink tubing and placed it on top of the switch housing. When complete, the entire switch was completely waterproof, and even after calculating the cost of the shrink tubing, we got half the cost of buying much more expensive switches. In the future I will report on how well the switches perform over time, but for now they offer excellent value for money.
