Review on Efficient Temperature Control with Grundfos 595444 3/4-Inch Clip-On Aquastat Control by Timothy Schroeder

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not as described, not adjustable, temperature too high for my application and unreliable.

First of all, this item is described as adjustable from 85 to 105 degrees, but it is not. It actually turns on at 85 and off at 105 with a +/- 5-6 degree tolerance on either end. I've been using it to control a hot water circulating pump and I've found that I'd like to lower the "shutdown" temperature by a few degrees, but I can't, causing my pump to run longer than ideal and more pumps hot water back. too cold water, waste of energy. As described this device would be perfect for my needs but due to the lack of customization it is far from perfect. My other issue with it is the attachment system. The spring clamp is weak and flexes easily, and the aquastat's body itself rotates relative to the clamp, making installation on 3/4 inch pipe difficult. for less perfect conduction and greater inaccuracy and probably even higher effective "off" temperature.
