Review on 📱 Garmin Nüvi 2457LMT 4.3-Inch Portable Vehicle GPS with Lifetime Maps and Traffic (No Longer Produced) by Demond Clenney

Revainrating 5 out of 5

EXCELLENT GPS with excellent performance. A definite 5 star with a few minor blemishes

For the money this is the perfect little GPS unit. Garmin GPS systems. I told them to anyone who would listen. The 360 has served me well for many years and was still in excellent condition when I decided to buy a new unit. Why did I want to get a new one when the 360 still worked? I had several criteria. 1) better satellite reception 2) slightly wider screen for my aging eyes 3) lifetime maps (my old nüvi was aging and didn't have free map updates) 4) VOICE ACTIVATION To be honest the voice activated feature was my favorite and I probably would not upgrading if I couldn't get voice activation at a reasonable price. I've watched prices come down over the years and when I bought it a few months ago I thought the price was more than fair (about a hundred and fifty). So, what I like: - The satellite is much more powerful, so I don't have to "wait forever" for satellite reception during a rainstorm or other bad weather. - Real Directions and Active Lane Guidance also help a lot. Not what I found necessary until now once I got used to it. I love that she tells me which lane to go on, especially when I'm in very unfamiliar territory. Bluetooth works great. Normally my phone is connected to the Nuvi via Bluetooth and not to the phone system in the car - VOICE ACTIVATION! Wow, I'm all about voice activation. It's so easy to just tell her where we want to go. She understands saved locations very well. She also has a knack for larger chain stores as well as things like "library" or "train station". See the cons section of my review for what she doesn't understand very well. And she can insert a waypoint. Suppose you go to Aunt Mary's house, but remember that you need to take a cake to bring to her. You call the cake shop and she puts it in as a stopover. It tells you the speed limit and warns you (with a red glow around your current speed) if you exceed that limit. What I do not like? :- She doesn't understand spoken street names very well (actually she's pretty nasty at it, so you better just type in the destination address) and also doesn't understand other spoken words very well. As a rule, it is better to enter the names of many targets. Some of the things she comes up with are funny but a little crazy when you're in a hurry: - When she's not giving directions, she shows the current time on a map. When in GPS heading mode the only time you see is the ETA time. Maybe there is a way to see both, but I haven't figured it out. I would love to see both watches side by side in future incarnations of this device. It took me a while to figure out how to save space in my saved places. It didn't seem intuitive. Now that I know how to do this, it seems completely intuitive. For those of you who don't know and are tearing your hair out (like me) to find out, just tap the car icon on the screen when you're at the location you want to save. Clicking on the car icon will open the save screen where you can enter a name for the new saved place. TADA.- My old Nuvi made me change my voice to a sexy British male voice. This nüvi has limited voice capabilities. I miss my sexy boyfriend. Not a single minus is enough to deduct a star or even half a star. This thing is awesome and makes driving a lot safer. Tell her where you want to go and she will make it right. Conclusion: I highly recommend this GPS device. I'm a gadget freak and this is one of the best I've ever used
