Didn't need screws
I'm not using them as shelf so can't say to much, im using them as a wall to hold my cats feeder in place so he won't knock it over its worked great to keep up with his shoving and jumping all over them(11lbs) so I'd say they probably work well for most stuff and withstand some tugging from a kid if you decide to use them for a little ones room, easy to put on the wall and holds strong.

- The adhesive may damage the wall or paint when the shelves are removed
