Review on πŸ”Œβœ… Klein Tools RT310 Receptacle Tester: AFCI and GFCI Outlet Tester for North American AC Electrical Receptacles by Chris Hazzard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Useful and high quality tester

I used it to test all the sockets in my house. I found one that had reverse wiring so it was definitely worth it. I was also able to test the functionality of the GFCI outputs myself instead of just relying on the test buttons built into those outputs. I don't have AFCI sockets, so I can't try this test function. The tester is easy to use and small enough to reach most electrical outlets. The length of the cable is short but acceptable given the function of this tester. An extension cord may be required to access outlets where there is not enough space to mount the tester, or where the tester's display needs to be far from the outlet for easier viewing of the status indicators. The build quality is good. The tester's display has simple indicators that are easy to see and understand. The main disadvantage is that the tester shuts down too quickly. This often happened when I plugged it into an outlet. According to the instructions, the tester shouldn't turn on while it's plugged in, so having to unplug it, turn it on, and then plug it back in every time it turns off is a little annoying and a bit of a waste of time. It would be great if there was a way to set the time it can be idle before shutting down.

Pros
  • Tester
Cons
  • Ok, but...
