Excellent weather radio, especially at this price!

I was very skeptical about ordering this radio from Amazon. The reason for this is that the product page lists the wr120ez model, but some people have stated that they had to order the clamshell version to actually get the wr120ez, or that they didn't get the ez version at all. I ended up ordering the boxed version and was happy to actually get the ez version of this radio. I made sure the one I ordered was shipped direct from Revain. I felt like my chances of getting the ez version would be a lot higher and it worked out. The EZ version has all the features I would look for in a weather radio. These features are 1:) SAME compatible so you can choose which county or counties you want to receive alerts for. 2 :) Ability to edit most alerts and turn them on or off depending on which alerts you want to enable the siren for. Some of them, like the tornado warning, cannot be turned off on this radio, but that goes for any weather radio. 3:) EOM or end of message detection. I always use the voice mode on any weather radio. This activates the siren for about 7-8 seconds and automatically switches to voice transmission. However, they always emit 3 EOM tones at the end of the voice transmission. This tells the weather radio that voice transmission has ended, says a warning and automatically puts the weather radio back into standby mode. Some weather radios will not detect an EOM signal and will not return the radio to Standby mode when transmission is complete. Instead, they usually keep broadcasting for a set period of time, which is usually 5 minutes. I find EOM detection much more convenient, but that may just be my personal preference. 4:) Public Notice notarized. I've had better luck with certified Public Alert radios. 5:) Buffer battery in case of power failure. This particular radio uses 3 AA batteries for backup power. For a weather radio to offer all of the above features at this price point is unheard of. I'm used to spending $69.99 or more to get a weather radio that does all of these things. To my great amazement, this weather radio does all of these things that I would want a weather radio to do, and it does it very well! And it was less than $35.00! I am very happy with the Midland wr120ez. I highly recommend it! A word of caution. Make sure the switch on the right side of the device is in the "ON" position. Otherwise notifications will not be activated.
