I bought and installed this after missing 2 FedEx deliveries whilst at home. My doorbell works but it's upstairs and you can skip it downstairs in the kitchen. Our FedEx drivers have to wear foam rubber gloves because they're afraid they'll hurt their knuckles knocking on our wooden door, so I didn't hear them either. A possible solution is a large brass door knocker. Good ending. Good knock. Ease of installation. With a few caveats. One is very important. The instructions indicate 3/8 inch screw holes. This is a mistake as the holes should be 3/16" not 3/8" which would mean two very large holes in your door. Drill 3/16" holes. , or use your drill bits to align the screws and select the appropriate one. Secondly, if you are not an experienced and skilled handyman, consider using the included OUTSIDE drilling jig. The Holes go all the way through the door, but if your drill bit isn't perfectly level and straight, the far ends of the holes may not line up perfectly.If you're drilling from the outside, it doesn't matter, but if you're drilling from the inside, the outer ones may ends of the holes are a quarter inch or more, which means they won't line up with the threaded connections on the hammer.. So use the template from the outside and drill from the outside in. With these two simple considerations in mind, a hammer looks good and sounds good. Nice and loud.
