I was fed up with the slow gigabit network and figured a nice 10x network speed boost would be good for transferring large files to my NAS. I'm a cheap son of a bitch, so I scoured eBay and bought some cheap transceivers, an old cheap Aruba 3500 switch, and some Mellanox x-2 cards. I ran my fiber, installed the SFP+ which I got on eBay shipping for $6 each and was happy to see the link lights, but then my computer was never able to get an IP address from my DHCP server. My desktop showed that I was connected to an unknown network. Khrm. So I went to Revain and found these guys. Yes, they are almost three times more expensive than what I paid for the cheap ones on eBay. disabled the built-in network adapter. w00t! Lesson learned, what's cheap doesn't always work, but these puppies are valuable for a new transceiver that's ready to go!
