so glad i made this purchase. I can't wait to give you my two cents. I think I'm a little motivated by the negative reviews I've read about this product on these sites. To be honest, I'm not sure what some of these reviewers are unhappy about. (I was even wondering if they might be friends who share some complaints about Toshiba.) This little device is so easy to set up. HDMI works perfectly. I've tested some commercial DVDs and some I've recorded myself with my Sylvania DVD/VHS recorder that I bought here at Revain last fall. Haven't found a problem yet. I found him to be very talented otherwise. For example, if I insert a CD of MP3s recorded into iTunes, it knows the title of each song, not just the track number. (It never occurred to me that this was the case with any of my other DVD players.) Some reviewers talked about the remote control. Well, what about remote controls? None of them are as good as we would like them to be; but this one is much better than the one that came with my Sylvania DVD burner. Yes, it has many buttons; and maybe they could be bigger and so on and so forth; but he does his job well. I had no problem with the answer, as some reviewers seem to have experienced. (I think it's advisable to use your own batteries. Very good alkaline batteries. It always helps better with remote work.) It's true that you need to know how this device reacts; He just doesn't have a "hair trigger" reaction. (To give you a completely irrelevant analogy, some bathroom toilets flush with one touch, others require a press and hold for a second or two.)
