Review on ๐Ÿฆ– Buy Velociraptor Comp Tire by Chris Prix

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Long Use Test

Well after more than 5 years I'm back to buy another tire. I bought my old tire in 2012. My old tire is still rideable, but I hit really nasty rocks on steep descents and it just feels good to have a new tread pattern on the front. I tried to put another brand on the back (Panaracer Fire XC). It had high reviews but I found I couldn't easily do a short controlled slide with another brand. As a last resort, I prefer to lock the rear wheel, maybe a 6 inch skid, so I can correct course. With the other brand, quickly applying the rear brakes would cause the tire to slide too far and instead of regaining control I tended to lose control. Also, another brand has started losing their side grips. I finally gave up the Panaracer and replaced it with another Velociraptor. I rode a 60 degree incline to avoid the rut and my velociraptors dug in and grabbed the trail to keep me from sliding into the rut. These tires should be slower, but think about it - you're in a race where seconds count, or you're driving to a practice session. I've been in the middle of nowhere and seen people smash a cheap tire onto a sharp rock. You can count on the Velociraptor to weather it all, giving you both control and traction when you need it most. As you can see from the picture I ran out like hell on this tire but it's still holding up.
