My wife is a professional housekeeper and we have piles of vacuum cleaners lying around, some still in working order, some worn out but left as spares, some worn out from day one. Of these, three Shark NV501 models are essentially identical to this model, except for the rotating brush, which grabs pet and human hair and gets so full you have to scrub it with scissors (well, all brands and models with rotating brushes have them this problem). , and of course I have to sit with them weekly and brush my hair). My wife has very long Filipino hair and it clogs every machine we use at home so we decided to order a machine for HOME with a new bristleless spin brush. carpet cleaning. Of course, all is not lost for us, as this vacuum cleaner will still work for OTHER households in their store, but the advertised claim that the brush stays hairless on long human hair has NOT been achieved. I wasn't really expecting that, but it was worth a try. However, there are a few additional pluses: This vacuum is a lot QUIETER than any other that I've seen that have been effective. significantly less noise. Plus it's harder work, meaning things fit and stay in place, nothing dangling. The main air hose is also heavier. the 501 hoses don't last long at the upper bend and then have to be shortened or otherwise sealed. It's more nimble in handling and cornering. turns faster with less effort, but sometimes turns too easily. This is a very good car (with one caveat) and the price probably won't disappoint.
