Compared to my previous Shark 700, this model does not have optical obstacle avoidance as it has to bump into objects before it can reverse. The 700 series often didn't have to touch an obstacle, especially a lighter color, before stopping and changing direction. that Shark intentionally removed the optical system in favor of a simpler, cheaper, all-hit-and-go system. This makes the car much noisier and more prone to pushing and knocking over things in its path rather than dodging them. The system, combined with slightly faster movement, also causes rapid reversing, causing rubber wheels to squeak on hard floors. The spot cleaning feature is also noted on this model, and the remote control and manual timer programming are replaced with a Wi-Fi connection and an app that connects to your Smart Photo. ne for programming and finding a stuck machine. IMHO the decision to make this machine even more "dumber" to save manufacturers a few bucks on parts doesn't make sense since it's no longer quiet to clean, but rather a noise and frequent bouncing of things that require decor adjustment after each cleaning. I hope they will return to the optical shock protection system for them as I will be returning this model for a refund and will try to find another robot vacuum with this feature or better, with this and the memory system and we recommend that you this particular model do not buy.
