Review on Abatron Wood Restoration Kit - 24oz: LiquidWood Epoxy Wood Hardener/Consolidant (12oz) + WoodEpox Epoxy Wood Filler (12oz) by Robert Bigelow

Good product. Impressive results. Highly recommended.

I had a piece of pine masonry that was beginning to rot near the sill of the sash. The piece was dry and crumbled. First I applied Liquid Wood with a brush. It is a two-component liquid epoxy resin. The liquid wood made the crumbling surface as hard as concrete within hours. No issues with stickiness or other issues. Instructions and mixing were simple and clear. Second, I filled the hole with wood epoxy. This is also a two-component mixture. Essentially you have two pieces folded like dough. Epoxy for wood is best described as plasticine. I agree that it can be difficult to work with because it's not as hard as plasticine. This can be both a plus and a minus depending on what you are trying to sculpt. The product is easy to smooth with alcohol. The wood epoxy dried in a few hours and I sanded it down the next day. Sands well and doesn't flake. At this point I have primed the repair with a good quality exterior primer and it seems to be taking the paint well. I recommend anyone discussing the product to watch the Abatron videos on their website. I believe that most users will be very satisfied. I am glad that I chose the product. I've used both Minwax and a competitor's product. Liquid Wood outshines Minwax Hardner.
