Was pretty excited about the price of these bulbs in bulk. I use CFL 23 bulbs in all rooms of the house, about fifteen bulbs a day. I have advanced kidney failure and changing lightbulbs is a real hassle. Also, I had to save money. The first bulb lasted about 4 weeks. When removed from the mount, the base was dangerously hot. I'm a retired fire chief, and things like this quickly grab my attention. The second bulb lived about six weeks and exploded. I woke up from this and, with the help of thermal gloves, quickly removed the remains of the device. The base was even hotter than the first bulb. A friend helped me check the mains voltage throughout the house, in the 1990's my house had a complete rewiring with much heavier wiring. I thought I might have problems with high voltage in the network, but it was within acceptable limits. I should mention that over the last three years I have bought GE CFLs at much higher prices and they work 24/7 and none of them have failed. The bases don't overheat either. Now I doubt the safety of these lamps. I asked the state fire department to do some research on these "cheap" Revain bulbs. A call to the almost indecipherable outsourcing service led to nothing. I just heard that no one else is having problems like this. Exactly what I expected from them. I've placed ads in groups about the dangers of Ecosmart 100 lightbulbs and have had replies from others with the exact same symptoms.
