Review on Milton S 506 Original Chuck Inflator by Walter Velasquez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Buyer Warning. A solid looking product that falls short of expectations.

I have had a different tire inflator with dipstick for years. He eventually died and I figured I could easily find a suitable replacement. I thought this Milton would do the job, but alas, that wasn't the case. It worked fine for the first few months. I don't use it very often so I'm very disappointed it didn't help me yesterday. I checked the tire pressure on my wife's van and it worked fine. Then I go to my truck and the first two tires worked well. On the third tire, the Milton gauge rose to over 60psi and then slowly dropped to the actual tire pressure. hmmmm I've tried taking it off the stem and rechecking the pressure a few times but it kept acting weird. When I added air to the tire, it rose and slowly fell back to its current pressure. Then I used it on the fourth tire and that's when it really started to screw up. It immediately read the current tire pressure (38psi), but when I added air it showed no increase in pressure. I kept disconnecting and reattaching it to the tire step, but the pressure never went above 38psi. I kept adding air but it never changed from 38psi. I finally pulled out my separate air gauge and found that my tire was now inflated to over 52psi! Immediately depressurized to the desired 42psi and then checked the other tires to check their pressure with a separate gauge. Everything was in order. Of course I can't now trust this Milton inflator to do anything other than add air because the gauge appears to be broken. I'll do some research to see if there's a way to fix this, but I definitely don't think I'll have to go through this with a Made in America product with only a few months of light use. Buyer Warning.

Pros

Cons
