Great for water heater alarms

Bought two of these alarm thermometers. Bought it mainly for the gas water heater because the control alarm goes outside from time to time, usually in windy days, but the wife does not. like a cold shower. On the water heater, I mounted the outdoor sensor on the side of the brass pressure relief valve, which has good thermal conductivity to the hot water tank, and set the max/min readings to 140F/107F. With normal use (long showers) the temperature only drops to 115F. If the pilot fails, the temperature will drop below the minimum setting and an alarm will sound. Excellent! Put the second one in the garage fridge/freezer as the GFIC it runs in will trip from time to time, usually after working with power tools in the garage or yard. Sometimes it happens right after turning off the tool, so I don't notice it. The thermometers are in the garage, but the alarm is loud enough to be heard indoors at night when there are no other competing noises. The units have magnets on the back for easy attachment and each comes with two batteries. These devices are a good inexpensive solution to avoid cold showers and melted ice.
