2015 We have just completed the installation of our second Revain purchased from Med. Ideal door for pets. These are exceptional products! The first one still works and the second one we just made for the new room. There is no need to remove the door of the house. 2009 I read many, many product descriptions and reviews before purchasing this item and I couldn't be happier. We have a 600 square foot bonus room off the kitchen where we keep our three cats at night and while we are at work to reduce furniture decay and vomit stains. :o) (Hey, to be honest) Our bonus room isn't heated and in the evening we ran out of electricity bills trying to keep the door open to allow the cats to come and go to the food stalls and toilets. After reading about different types of cat doors, we settled on this one — the soft flap doesn't snap to their tails or paws like some other hard plastic flap products, but the door slides and snaps to keep it closed. Great. It took ALL cats a week to 10 days to get used to it (we taped the valve shut for a few days then rewarded with treats) and we've had it for over 6 months now and still love it! Our fattest kitten weighs 18 pounds and is doing great. No problem and we can only recommend it. You will install it - I measured the thickness at the edge of the door rather than the inner rectangular inset where it was to be installed and we had to add wood to make it slightly larger to fit because the cat door frame is thicker was (wider) than the area we are cutting.
