Troxel Sierra Horseback Riding Helmet - Safety & Comfort For Equestrian Riders Review

The Troxel Sierra Western helmet is terrific! It's beautifully made and easy to fit/fasten; it's well ventilated and so very comfortable. I feel it offers excellent protection (the whole point of wearing a good helmet, of course), and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

I am super pleased with the low profile look and fit and the more western style of this helmet. I have used it for a couple weeks now and my head does not get hot on long trail rides and I don't feel like a huge "bubble head" when I wear it. I thought this was old stock because the box was rather worse for wear and the clasp not as described as other reviewers have said (this helmet was redesigned a few years ago and added a magnetic self-locking clasp). However, I was able to find out from Troxel that they were unable to source the magnetic clasps quite a long time ago, so Sierra helmets with the "regular" two-pronged nylon locking buckle are actually newer. Needed to update my everyday helmet. This one fits sooo much better than prior Troxel's. Very comfortable and like the look. In the South, vented helmets are important so as not to overheat.

The reason I only gave this helmet four stars is because it looked a little bulky on me. It was very pretty, but on me personally it didn’t look right. I think it depends on what size head you have and which size you order. I got the large, and it fit on the inside but looked big on the outside. But I have to give credit where it’s due. it was BEAUTIFUL!

This is the best helmet I’ve had. Very comfortable and fits my head perfectly. Lightweight too plus it’s a nice looking helmet

Nice low profile helmet.The older models had leather covered nylon straps instead of just nylon which looks cheap. Do like the rear adjustable back better than the old pinch click design.

Got the large 7 1/4 - 7 3/8. Fits great. Easy to adjust.Light on the head which is great for long rides. May not fit over riding glasses!

Almost didn't order after reading the wide range of views. I wear a 6 3/4 western hat. I ordered the small and it fits perfectly. I even had to size it down some. It's very comfortable and western looking. I ride in an expensive Sam Shield for jumping and this one fits better and is just as comfortable.

I'm an older yet only intermediate rider. Wanted to wear a helmet for safety but also wanted it to go with Western attire. The helmet fits well, is comfortable and matches my boots!

Have had several Troxel helmets. Light weight and comfortable. Had to replace my last one after a fall that damaged the helmet, which saved me from injury. No matter how experienced you are or how broke your horse is, never ride without a helmet -and Troxel is the best I have found.

Bill fell off first week and will not stay on, now the cover is popping off. I’m very disappointed in this Troxel product May cause discomfort with hijabs or headscarves.

My husband is training our new, very green horse. This was his Valentine gift from me. He really likes it. Fits well and doesn't look prissy.

beautiful. comfortable. have worn 3 to 5 days a week since purchased a year ago, banged around, dropped, tossed into tack box, etc and it looks brand new! Worth every penny.

Ordered in July 2017, helmet received was a December 2016 production model (which is good!) Helmets are produced with expiration dates 5 years from purchase, so this was current stock. The XL fits like a glove.

Have been a Tipperary Sportage fan for yrs, but decided to try this after seeing a friends, loving the looks of it, and trying it on. It's awesome! I bought this helmet as I had borrowed one and loved it. When I received mine, it is a little snug feeling. I ordered a large, and usually have a 7 1/4, so it should fit according to the size guide. I tried taking the padding out and it was too big, so I am going to see if it will form to my head! It's a great helmet, great price and it was delivered on time, so I have no complaints there.
