I thought this was old stock because the box was rather worse for wear and the clasp not as described as other reviewers have said (this helmet was redesigned a few years ago and added a magnetic self-locking clasp). However, I was able to find out from Troxel that they were unable to source the magnetic clasps quite a long time ago, so Sierra helmets with the "regular" two-pronged nylon locking buckle are actually newer. Helmet is great.don't worry about the buckle.it's the ad descriptions that are old, not the helmet.
